EXTREMELY LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIAL

Polyester composites are lightweight, especially in comparison to wood or metals. Lightness is an important and useful feature of a material, especially in the automotive, nautical, or aviation industry.

MECHANICALLY FIRM MATERIALL

Mechanical firmness of polyester composites (depending on the manufacturing process) can greatly exceed the firmness of aluminium or steel. Unlike metals, reinforced polyester is designed to be firmer in a specific direction or line (depending on the needs and purpose of the final product).

MECHANICAL FIRMNESS AND WEIGHT RATIO

Unbeatable ratio between the mechanical firmness and weight is a great advantage of polyester composites compared to other materials (for example metal which is firm, but also much heavier). Reinforced polyester has the most favourable ratio between the firmness and weight if we compare various materials which are being used in different industries today, therefore it is especially important for the production of different types of vehicles and vessels, as well as in other production processes where the lightness of the material plays a key role. Polyester composites are designed in a way to ensure greater firmness of a material in a specific line, whereas metal structures, for example, need to be additionally reinforced in critical spots with a thicker layer of the material to get the same result, which consequently affects the weight of the structure.

RUST RESISTANCE

Rust, as a consequence of bad weather conditions, humidity or aggressive chemicals, can corrode many materials, but not reinforced polyester. Polyester composites are therefore an excellent choice if we rightfully anticipate that the product will have to face extreme weather conditions or will come in contact with corrosive chemicals.

SHOCK RESISTANCE

Reinforced polyester is excellent at absorbing impact force.

EASY TO SHAPE

The process of shaping reinforced polyester into complex forms and structures is much less demanding than with other materials. Due to the relatively simple production process, reinforced polyester can be shaped into almost any structure, which often improves the design and functionality of the final product while also significantly reducing production costs at the same time. The surface of polyester composites can be formed to imitate various textures.

FEWER COMPONENTS

One single polyester composite can substitute the entire bigger structure of metal parts within a specific product. Reducing the number of components within a specific structure or product represents an important cutback in the production time and costs, and at the same time reduces the maintenance costs throughout the entire lifespan of the product.

RESISTANCE TO EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION

Reinforced polyester keeps its form and size regardless of the heat or cold, humidity or aridity. On the contrary, wood for example swells or shrinks if exposed to significant changes in humidity. Polyester composites are therefore a better choice in the circumstances when it is important for the material not to expand or contract.

NON-CONDUCTIVITY

Armirani poliester ne prevaja elektrike. Če pa je potrebno, lahko poliestrski kompozit izdelamo tudi tako, da material postane prevoden.

NON-MAGNETIC

Polyester composites do not contain metals and are non-magnetic. Therefore, they can come in contact with sensitive electronic equipment.

RADAR SIGNAL PERMEABILITY

Reinforced polyester transmits radar signals which is especially important when the composite products come in contact with radar technology – for example in aviation or in the production of mobile antennas.

GOOD INSULATION

Good insulation means that the material does not conduct heat or cold.

DURABILITY

Structures made out of polyester composites need very little maintenance and have a very long lifespan. The end user can therefore rest assured that polyester will not lose its original qualities for a very long time.
